“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

We know a lot of the people we meet wish they could donate more. What if our animal rescue earned a donation every time you searched the Internet? GoodSearch.com is a new Yahoo-powered search engine that donates 1/2 its advertising revenue, (about a penny per search) to non profits (such as Theothersideofthefence.org). Use it just as you already do any search engine, get quality search results from Yahoo, and watch the donations add up!!

Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Theothersideofthefence.org as the charity you want to support. And, be sure to spread the word!  We have already earned over $86.26 to help feed homeless animals!!! The ASPCA has raised more than $30,000.00!  Can it get ANY easier to support a good cause? Try it! Search for anything below, and we get a penny!!!

2010

  $111.00

UPDATE: We are making it a goal to pick up our donations.
A sponsor has agreed to match every donation received towards SAVE A STRAY SPAY TODAY and our new SCHOLARSHIP program throughout the summer! What a perfect way to double your donation!!

Many animal rescues are closing because the communities which they serve are not able or just not willing to help out financially. If you love the work we do--PLEASE DONATE $1.00!! Three neighboring rescues have closed their doors in 2009 for lack of volunteers or any real support from the communities in which they served.

In your car seat... couch cushions... purse...

WHY NOT DONATE THEM TO A GREAT CAUSE!

WITH COSTS IN THE THOU$AND$ TO CARE FOR
HOMELESS ANIMALS IN OUR COMMUNITY...
EVERYPENNY COUNTS!

I found a penny today
Just laying on the ground,
But it's not just a penny
This little coin I've found.

Found pennies come from Heaven
That's what I've been told,
By Angels watching over us
From their clouds of gold...

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM (C.O.R.)

Our C.O.R. Program will benefit CHAINED and neglected  large breed female dogs. We hope to expand to every neglected outside dog in the future, as the community gets more involved.
What will the C.O.R. Program do for these lonely, often parasite infested, pets?
  • Spay
  • Worm
  • 1 month of Revolution flea/tick/heartworm prevention
  • Surrounding area deflead with diatomaceous earth
  • A bag of dog food
  • Nail Trim
  • Ear Clean
  • Bath
Who will qualify for the C.O.R. Program?
Dogs with sad stories! If you are reading this website, you most likely do not qualify as a neglectful pet owner that needs our immediate help. We want to reach out to the dogs that Never get attention, they are bone thin, dirty, and you just always feel so sorry for. Having litter after litter.

How will you choose the dogs that will get help?
Once a month our Board members will read all the sad stories and choose the saddest, most heart wrenching story to bring into our C.O.R. Program.
We will contact the person who submitted the story to affirm the location of the dog, however, strict confidentiality will be kept.

Where do I enter a dog?
You can write a story about the dog and send it via email to jayh@ontheothersideofthefence.org or mail it Attn: C.O.R. Program, 520 CR 5351 Poplar Bluff, Mo. 63901

What if I want to help?
Great!! We need volunteers and sponsors. Just let us know what you can do to help!!

We go through 40 pounds of dog food a day.

Stella-French Bulldog; a puppy mill survivor who spent 6 years of life in a small cement cage. She chewed her poor little feet so bad they had to be soaked, medicated and bandaged everyday for a month when she was rescued. She had trouble breathing and even regurgitated food and water due to an elongated soft palate, she was still bred!  Over $600.00 later her palate was shortened--- her fur regrew--- starting catching on about not potting in her kennel--- she became a shiney Stella and found her furever home in Texas!    Cherry -Itialian Greyhound mix; was in an accident and her tear ducts had been ruptered! Bruised and in pain--- she needed surgery! Over $400.00 later and doing great with kennel training -she found her new furever family in St. Louis!    Hellen-Chihuahua/Shih Tzu; Sometimes mother nature just makes no sense. I mean, literally makes no sense. This precious little girl, was born with no eye balls!! She is such a bundle of joy and a heartbreaker. She acts so much like a normal puppy, is very playful, and seems perfectly happy! Most amazingly is how well she is doing on potty training!! She had no place to go, and we could not help but to step up and make sure she did not get euthanized.  Her adoptive family loves her so deeply in St. Louis!! As the story should always go... HAPPILY EVER AFTER!!!    Miss Kitty- Brown tabby cat; "We do not know why the kittens are dying"? If only they had cared enough to turn her over  or  forbid...pet her... they would have noticed a badly infected case of mastitis, a little obvious to us anyway.    Dona-Lab; Cutest- Chihuahua; Selena- Dachshund; Chances-Dachshund/Chihuahua; (Rose- Selena's surviving baby not shown) 5 of 11 found alive after being abandoned and locked in their "people's"  trailer all summer. Although Selena had a young puppy with her... she was quite pregnant and burst with adorable babies several weeks after rescue!!! She is happy to be spayed! Dona-- the last of the crew to find her furever home now lives in ST. Louis and gets lot's of attention! It took 3 days to trap these babies... and many many months of recouping!!    Poor Dog- Beagle/Pitbull mix; He was barely moving when the rescue found him a few blocks away! he most likely would not have made it through the night if not rescued that fatefull day  in June 08'! He had a broken upper jaw and almost his entire body was hairless and covereed in infection. The pictures make him look great... you can not tell how bad he really was! Still awaiting his furever home...    MY FOUR BABIES- Mastiff; Oh how I miss you!! Late one evening in Novemeber 09' we found 4 newborn (no longer than 3 days old) cold, starved, puppies with a severe case of aspiration pnumonia in a box at the bottom of the driveway. They were a MIRICLE to keep a live! They wanted to pass away so bad that first week. It took 1 hour and 45 minutes to feed them all... and I had to feed them every two hours!!! Sleep deprived and over $1400 later... they are all living so far away in the best homes... Oklahoma.. 2 are in Ohio.. Washington DC!
