Wouldn’t it be great if while you were working your reactive pet was being socialized, given basic obedience lessons, worn out with cuddles, and exercised while you’re away?
Reactive Rover Day Camps are for dogs over six months of age with known reactivity (e.g., raised hackles, increased arousal, barking, lunging, or growling). Some of the things that can cause your dog to be reactive to other dogs include leash frustration, over-excitement, or even fear of other dogs, humans, or situations.
REACTIVE ROVER I DAY CAMP
This course is designed primarily for dog-to-dog reactivity, but the same techniques can be used with other reactivity issues (i.e., reactivity to strangers, bikes, skateboards, etc.).
Our private sessions provide encouragement and a positive learning environment. We set you and your dog up for success! We will start off with baby steps to desensitize your dog. The first lesson is in your home and lasts approximately one hour. We will examine your pet’s environment and reactions first hand and then create an individualized behavior modification plan.
After the initial meeting, your dog will spend two hours a day for five days with a trainer learning how to get rewarded for their positive reactions. If you do not have a secure fenced back yard where the trainer can work undisturbed from distractions, transportation to the trainer’s secure fenced yard is provided at no additional cost.
After the 10 hours of personal training with your dog, an extra hour of training with the whole family will be necessary. Except for the initial and concluding meeting, pet owners do not need to be present for training, however, access to your pet must be provided during scheduled times.
NOTE: Please understand that very reactive dogs will still need lots of family support after the initial course is complete. This course only introduces reactive dogs to proper behavior. We offer additional options for continuing education for your dog.
REQUIREMENTS: Dog must be neutered/spayed and over 6 months. Dogs undergoing any training must be up to date on vaccinations.
COST: $360 at time of registration
REACTIVE ROVER II DAY CAMP
This course is for dogs who have completed Reactive Rover I classes. Participants will build on skills learned in Reactive Rover I and will get the chance to practice these skills as we expose them to “real world” scenarios. A trainer will walk your dog at various park locations within your area. If your dog is still too reactive for a park environment after Reactive Rover I, the trainer will take the dog to controlled areas to continue desensitization.
Since this is a continuing day camp course, pet owners do not need to be present when the trainer picks your dog up. Classes are 2 hours long and run once a day for five days.
NOTE: Please understand that very reactive dogs will still need lots of family support after the course is complete. This course only introduces reactive dogs to proper behavior in different and new environments. We offer additional options for continuing education for your dog.
Cost: $300 at time of registration
REACTIVE ROVER III DAY CAMP
This course is for dogs who have completed Reactive Rover I and Reactive Rover II courses. If your dog did exceptional in the Reactive Rover I course, you may ask for a waiver from the Reactive Rover II requirement.
Manners are the biggest focus of this class. By this point, your dog is starting to overcome their extreme over-reactions, but they still need lots of practice to make the good behavior come naturally. This convenient course is ongoing at your convenience, with no future obligations (except the ones you reserve by paying for). The pet owner does not need to be present for the training.
Classes are billed in 1 hour increments. Once you pay for a desired number of hours, we will create a schedule that fits everyone’s needs.
NOTE: Please understand that very reactive dogs will need lots of family support after the course is complete.
Cost: $30 per hour
